Books I Need to Reread (At Some Point)
My apologies for posting late this week, I had a busy week where I was pretty lazy and yeah...basically I'm an awful human being. But I'm here now! Yay! :DD
Anyways, in the last 3ish years or so my schedule has steadily been getting tighter and tighter. Gone are the days of my youth where I had eons of time to read any book I wanted, whenever I wanted. My more serious pursuit of writing in the last few years, along with a much more hectic lifestyle, has kept me from accomplishing the amount of reading I used to. I used to actually have time to reread books! Can you imagine?
These days, that's a bit more of a struggle. So, this week I thought I'd share some Books I Need to Reread (At Some Point).
I can't tell you how many times I have read these stories/listened to the audio books/watched the movies. But it's a lot. I don't know what it is about the Narnia books, but they are so compulsively readable and they totally transport me into a place that I've not experienced with any other book. Honestly, I see them on my shelf and MISS reading them. It sucks.
Since these books came to me in my early teens, just as life began to get a bit too busy for rereads and my TBR was beginning to grow very long I only have officially read the series 3 times as of now (and Fellowship of the Ring 4 times). They are favorite books of mine and are ALWAYS worth a reread, but they are so enormous that it's really hard to justify the guilty pleasure when you have a million other books waiting to be read...
I had to read this book for a book club a very long time ago, and I think I've read it once again since, but it was just so dense and interesting despite being a children's novel and took me on such a cool imagination ride. I really, really enjoyed it, and I'd love the chance to read it again.
I've only read this series once, quite a long time ago, but I really really enjoyed it when I did. It's yet another classic (most of my favorite books are) and the characters are lovable and the story is pretty cool, about tiny people moving about in the big people world. Also I ship Arrietty and Spiller so hard. But that's another discussion...
Here, this one's not a classic, guys! Not yet anyway. :P I've read Hunger Games twice I think, and despite how depressing the story is on the whole, it's very interesting and I don't think you can come through it without a bit of a new perspective, which is one of the reasons I enjoy it. And yes, I do want to read it again someday...eventually.
And there you have it, a list of books that I REALLLLLYYYYY want to reread, but just don't have the time to now. LE SIGH. How about you, fellow bookworm? What book or books are you looking forward to rereading someday when you have the chance? Are you wanting to read or reread any on my list? Let me know in the comments below!
**I will be taking a blogging hiatus this coming weekend, expect my next post at the end of the month - and have a great Family Day/Reading Week!**

These days, that's a bit more of a struggle. So, this week I thought I'd share some Books I Need to Reread (At Some Point).
1. The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis (and pretty much everything else by CS Lewis)
It sucks.
2. The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien
I have 6 different sets of LotR books, so I have to read it once from each in my lifetime. |
3. The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald
I had to read this book for a book club a very long time ago, and I think I've read it once again since, but it was just so dense and interesting despite being a children's novel and took me on such a cool imagination ride. I really, really enjoyed it, and I'd love the chance to read it again.
4. The Borrowers
5. The Hunger Games

I need to re-read all of these too! Along with Dragon Slippers. :P
ReplyDeleteYou do!! *checks out Dragon Slippers* Oooh, that looks promising...
Delete(I've read all of these books... which is unusual for me + the blogosphere! ;)
ReplyDeleteNow you've mentioned it, I'd LOVE to read The Chronicles of Narnia again; you're right, there's something about them that makes them worth coming back to over and over.

Haha, I guess we have similar good taste. ;)
DeleteI know, right?? I don't know what, but they are such GOOD stories, and there's so much nostalgia wrapped up in them for me too.
I want to read the Hunger Games so badly! I’ve watched all the movies and LOVED the but have only read the first book in the series. One series I want to reread is the Tales of Goldstone Woods. The author is so amazing with characters and prose and her story world. <3
ReplyDeleteKatie Grace has commented on my blog post! *fans self*
DeleteI can't believe you haven't read The Hunger Games yet! They are really good, the movies were very well done, but the books just have a bit of something more for me. As a reader you are definitely more in tune with Katniss for sure.
I shall have to look that up, it sounds pretty cool!
At one point I read The Chronicles of Narnia and I loved them. As of now my younger cousin has borrowed them I think. The final book, that colluded the series was the best. How Narnia as known fell and a new Narnia was formed. The Silver Chair was the main one I disliked most because the same way Farmer Boy did not fit into the Little House On The Prairie series by Laura Ingles Wilder, The Silver Chair did not fit in with the rest of the series. The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe is over rated so my favorite ones were The Last Battle, The Magicians Nephew, and The Horse And His Boy
ReplyDeleteThe Narnia books are some of my favorite books of all time (if you couldn't tell, haha). Really? You didn't like The Silver Chair? I quite enjoyed it, but you're right, it is a bit different than the others, although The Horse and His Boy is as well. My favorites were always The Magicians Nephew, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I think The Magician's Nephew is really underrated by Narnia fans, it's definitely one of the coolest books in the series.
DeleteThe Magician And His Nephew is CRITICAL for you to read if you want to read the Narinia books , cause it is the one that introduces to you how Narnia was founded
DeleteBelieve or not, I need to READ most of these books! (I know, I'm putting all the homeschooled Christians in a seizure). AND I need to reread The Hunger Games! They introduced me to YA fiction, and now that I've gotten more of a hold of that genre, I'd love to reread it and see how my viewpoint has changed!
ReplyDelete*le gasp* What!?! Which do you have to read???
DeleteYes, Hunger Games was the same for me, introducing me to YA, and it deserves to be reread! Someday...
